We’re Samaritan’s Purse, and if you haven’t come across us before you may well have heard of Operation Christmas Child, our great initiative that loads of churches, schools and businesses across the country are already part of.

But we do more than just send gifts overseas. As a Christian charity we provide emergency relief to disaster zones and also help communities across Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia build better futures for themselves and their families. Inspired by Jesus Christ, we love seeing communities that were down and out being restored – both spiritually and materially. That’s why we’ve chosen to partner with churches in the UK and around the world, supporting them as they bring hope to people in places where hope is in short supply.

It’s all part of what we call ‘Coming Together For Good’ and we’d love you to be a part of it.

Why choose us

With so many charity gift catalogues to choose from, why choose us? Here’s five great reasons:

  1. We have our network in place: Since 1970 we’ve been building a global network of partners, so when it comes to getting emergency aid to disaster zones or helping communities work their way out of poverty, we’ve got the connections to make sure that your gift has the most impact.
  2. We work where the need is greatest: Like Ethiopia and Liberia, two of the poorest countries in the world. Through our team on the ground, we bring hope and expertise to places others might deem too dangerous or hopeless.
  3. We’re just ordinary people: From our UK team members who’ve decided to use their skills, faith and commitment to make a difference in the world, to the people we work with on the ground – we are everyday folk getting on with the job of making lives better.
  4. We’re committed to partnership: When we arrive somewhere, the first thing we do is look for a local partner, be that church, charity or group of village leaders. We do this because we believe that empowered local people are key to bringing lasting change to the least-developed places of the world.
  5. We’re about people, not projects: That means coming alongside people, getting to know them, listening to them and only then working out our programme and activities on the ground. That’s how we know that all these gifts are exactly what people need.
